MEA PREVIEW — TESTING

Dior's New Promenade Bag Makes Everyday Luxury Feel Lighter

The Lady Dior is polished and architectural. The Book Tote is bold and graphic. The new Promenade Shopping Bag takes a softer approach, and it might be the easiest Dior bag to actually use.

Dior has built some of fashion's most recognisable bags. The Saddle is instantly identifiable.

Designed by Jonathan Anderson for Autumn-Winter 2026/27, it is relaxed, practical and built for everyday use.

A softer Dior

The Promenade has a clean, open shape with slim straps and a bow detail at the front. The handles can be adjusted for hand, shoulder or longer carry, which changes the feel of the bag completely. Carried short, it feels polished. Worn longer, it becomes more casual. That flexibility makes it easier to use across work, weekends and travel.

Why the shape works

Large bags are having a strong moment, but the best versions feel softer and less structured. The Promenade fits that shift. It gives you the space of a tote without looking corporate or overly formal. It moves easily with relaxed tailoring, denim, knitwear and simple everyday dressing.

How we would wear it

For work, pair it with wide-leg trousers, a fine knit and a long coat. For weekends, wear it with straight-leg denim, a relaxed shirt and loafers.

For travel, the medium size gives you more room without feeling oversized. In suede, brown and khaki tones work especially well with cream, navy and denim.

Leather or suede?

The material changes the personality of the bag. Leather feels more polished and versatile. Suede feels softer, warmer and more fashion-led.

If you want one bag to cover the widest range of occasions, leather makes more sense. If you already own several classic leather totes, suede feels more distinctive.

The detail that makes it Dior

The bow at the front gives the Promenade its identity. It adds a more feminine brand code to an otherwise relaxed shape. The result feels modern without losing the Dior character.

That balance is important under Jonathan Anderson. The brand is evolving, but it is not abandoning its history.

A softer alternative to the Book Tote

The Book Tote is designed to make a statement. The Promenade is easier to blend into a wardrobe. One is graphic and immediately recognisable. The other relies more on shape, material and subtle detail. If your style is polished, minimal or relaxed, the Promenade may be the easier everyday choice.

Why this bag matters

The Promenade feels designed around how people actually use bags now. It works across multiple parts of the day. It is practical without looking utilitarian. And it is distinctive without needing to dominate an outfit.

That is what makes it interesting. Not because it is the loudest new Dior bag. Because it may be one of the easiest to actually use.
